Maintaining Springfield's Infrastructure and Public Spaces

The City of Springfield’s Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining the community’s essential infrastructure and public spaces. The department is staffed by four full-time employees, supported by seasonal part-time team members during the summer months. Together, they ensure proper care, safety, and upkeep of the City’s streets, parks, and public facilities.

Public Works oversees a wide range of daily operations, including street maintenance, snow removal, park upkeep, tree care, mowing, stormwater system management, and general maintenance of City properties. Their dedication keeps Springfield running smoothly and provides residents with safe and well-maintained public spaces year-round.
